Sports overview

With over 17 hectares of land, Krugersdorp High School is one of the fortunate schools to be able to offer a large number of sports.

The school boasts the first Astro Hockey Pitch on the West Rand and one grass hockey field, a swimming pool, 6 tennis courts, 6 netball courts, 3 turf cricket pitches, 1 astro cricket pitch, 6 astro nets and turf nets, 3 rugby fields, 3 volleyball courts and a fully functional gym with 2 physical conditioning specialists.

Krugersdorp High School’s 1st netball side is one of the top English netball sides in the province and the hockey boys and girls are both ranked in the Top 30 of the country. The rugby at Krugersdorp High School is ranked in the Top 50. The cricket boys have annual fixtures against Glenwood, Clifton and Durban High School for Boys. Krugersdorp High School has just been identified as a Cricket Focus School by Cricket South Africa and the Gauteng Cricket Board, Mr Andre' Botha, international cricketer, is the school's Cricket Director who is focusing on ensuring the development of cricketers on the West Rand. 

Over the years, Krugersdorp High School’s sportsmen and women have enjoyed many successes on the sports field by making district, provincial and national sides for various sporting codes.

Learners who have achieved national colours are awarded a white blazer – this is the highest accolade a learner can achieve at Krugersdorp High School.

The school has been identified by the Department of Education as one of five Sports Focus Schools in the province and as a result is being given the opportunity to develop five traditional sports. This programme has been endorsed by SASCOC and is viewed as a great achievement for the school.
